Kings pushed to brink of elimination with 4-3 loss to Sharks
Patrick Marleau scores in overtime to lift the Sharks to a 3-0 playoff series lead over the Kings. Only three teams in NHL history have come back from a three-game postseason deficit.

Patrick Marleau scored on a backhand 6:20 into overtime, and the San Jose Sharks moved to the brink of the second round with a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night to take a 3-0 first-round series lead.

WASHINGTON — It was a majestic blast, exploding off the bat as if shot from a cannon, and as the ball arced its way toward the outer reaches of Nationals Park, it looked as if it might put a dent in the Capitol dome beyond the left-field wall.

Max Pacioretty lifted the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night into the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with a power-play goal with 43 seconds remaining for a 4-3 victory and a four-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
