49ers add veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs; Floyd eager to team with Bosa

The 49ers on Monday added some intrigue to their quarterback room and welcomed their latest attempt at a bookend pass rusher across from Nick Bosa. Edge rusher Leonard Floyd participated in a teleconference with local writers, officially signing a contract a week after agreeing to terms. Not long after the call was concluded, the agent for quarterback Joshua Dobbs reported on Twitter/X that Dobbs was joining the 49ers on a one-year contract. There was no official word from the 49ers, but a source familiar with the situation said the plan was for Dobbs to join the team. Floyd, 31, is coming off a 10 1/2 sack season in Buffalo. “I talked to Nick once I committed,” Floyd said. “We’re eager to play with each other . . . I’m looking forward to getting out, doing my job and just being a professional.” The 49ers also announced previously reported agreements with linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and cornerbacks Isaac Yiadom and Chase Lucas as well as the re-signing of center/guard Jon Feliciano. In addition, the 49ers brought aboard their first offensive lineman from outside the organization in former

‘Access Hollywood’ tape won’t be played at Donald Trump’s hush-money criminal trial, judge rules

By MICHAEL R. SISAK (Associated Press) NEW YORK (AP) — The infamous “Access Hollywood” video in which Donald Trump bragged about grabbing women sexually without asking permission will not be shown to jurors at the former president’s hush-money criminal trial, a New York judge ruled Monday. Judge Juan M. Merchan said prosecutors can still question witnesses about the tape, which was made public in the final weeks of Trump’s 2016 White House campaign. But “it is not necessary that the tape itself be introduced into evidence or that it be played for the jury,” the judge said. Merchan issued rulings on the “Access Hollywood” tape and other issues even after deciding last Friday to postpone the trial until at least mid-April to deal with a last-minute evidence dump that Trump’s lawyers said has hampered their ability to prepare their defense. Merchan scheduled a hearing for March 25, the trial’s original start date, to address that issue. Trump’s lawyers complained that they only recently started receiving more than 100,000 pages of documents from a previous federal investigation into the matter. They’ve asked for a three-month delay and

SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors and Rakuten have celebrated their annual mentorship event known as the “Future Leaders Experience.” This March marks 6 years of the program, and it’s all to empower the next generation of women entering the workforce. “This is our opportunity to bring young women from Girls Inc. together with mentors both from the Rakuten and the Warriors organizations,” expressed Yoyo Murphy, the Senior VP of Government and Community Relations for the Warriors/Chase Center. The 2-day experience includes professional development opportunities, a shopping experience, and job shadowing. In addition, program participants are afforded various networking opportunities from speaking with a panel of powerful women leaders to meeting fellow young women embarking on career journeys. “Socializing with our mentors, our mentees, we’re getting to know each other, and it’s just a really fun and useful experience,” described Mia Sanchez, a mentee from the Girls Inc. of Alameda organization. Kate Middleton seen walking with Prince William amid photo editing controversy

Kate, the Princess of Wales, is seen in a new video with Prince William as the pair visited a local farm shop over the weekend in Windsor, England. The video, newly obtained by TMZ and shared on Monday, is the first video footage the public has seen of Kate since she was hospitalized in mid-January for what Kensington Palace described at the time as < planned abdominal surgery. It is also only the third time Kate has been seen in public since late December as questions continue to swirl online about her health and well-being. Maggie Rulli has details from Buckingham Palace. The U.K.'s The Sun newspaper was the first to report that Kate was seen over the weekend looking "happy, relaxed and healthy" as she went about her day-to-day life in Windsor, where she and William live with their three children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. In addition to visiting a local farm shop together, Kate and William also reportedly watched their three kids play sports, according to The Sun. Fresno County guaranteed income applications open

Monday, March 18, 2024 11:32PM Applications are open for the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission, Advancing Fresno County Guaranteed Income Program. FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Applications are open for the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission, Advancing Fresno County Guaranteed Income Program. 150 eligible families have the opportunity to get $500 a month for a year. Fresno EOC Navigation Center Manager Mai Chang says helping families who apply is critical because they may lack access to the Internet or have a language barrier. “We currently have staff at our LCC location who need in-person assistance, and we also have staff placed at the Huron location for in-person assistance,” said Chang. Huron is one of two communities selected for the new guaranteed income program. The other is the ‘93706’ zip code in Southwest Fresno. “In the city of Fresno, 93706 is considered one of the most impoverished areas, not only in the city but in the state and nation. So, I think having that money available to 93706, who for years has been denied resources for the community, I think is very critical,” said Shawn Riggins with Fresno

FORESTVILLE, Calif. — When customers come to Nightingale Breads, they are sure to find fresh, delicious breads and baked goods. If you do not believe it, just take a look at the line. “Pretty much always have to wait in line,” regular customer Gabrielle says. “There’s usually five or six people waiting to get in,” local patron Rod adds. As you stand in line, you will discover that the people are more than happy to wait. “The fact that they are an organic bakery,” Gabrielle declares, “I’ll drive from further way to come here because I know the quality is best in town.” “It’s the best bakery in the world,” longtime shopper Louie simply states. Part of the bakery’s success may come from owner and baker Jessie Frosts love of the craft. “I think the ability to create with your hands is definitely the best part,” Frost reveals, “that skill of being able to make something for scratch that’s my favorite part.” On the other hand, some could say Nightingale’s long fermentation process or even, the warmth of their wood-fired oven is the secret to

How to have a great first visit to Miami

Scott Hartbeck | TravelPulse (TNS) Even if you’ve never been to Miami, you’ve sort of already been to Miami. This South Florida city has starred countless times on the silver screen and television and is always coming up in popular music, too, with many of these Miami-centric works becoming downright iconic. All of this has painted such a vibrant picture of the city, that whether or not you’ve ever crossed over the city limits, you have years of stored-up visions of what this city will be like when you finally get there. Considering all of this, when you visit for the first time, there’s a bit of pressure to find the Miami you have always envisioned. I recently visited the city for the very first time and the following is an account of how I tried to capture the essence of the city that I had dreamed of while also trying to see a couple of surprises along the way. 49ers’ Leonard Floyd eager to team with Bosa as second outside rush threat

Leonard Floyd is hopeful of being being the bookend pass rusher Nick Bosa hasn’t had since his rookie season. “I talked to Nick once I committed,” Floyd said Monday in a conference call with local writers after the 49ers made his signing official. “We’re eager to play with each other . . . I’m looking forward to getting out, doing my job and just being a professional.” Floyd, 31, agreed to terms a week ago with the 49ers after a 10 1/2-sack season in Buffalo. The 49ers also confirmed the previously-reported agreements with linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and cornerbacks Isaac Yiadom and Chase Lucas. Also confirmed was the re-signing of guard/center Jon Feliciano and the 49ers also signed their first offensive lineman from outside the organization in former Raider Brandon Parker. Floyd said the 49ers were an easy choice because of their status as a Super Bowl contender and that they “didn’t B.S. around . . . It was a great deal, a solid deal for me and it really wasn’t no second-guessing it. They showed they wanted me from the jump. Once I saw that

Kurtenbach: My first 3-round 49ers mock draft — the Niners find immediate impact with strong scheme fits

It’s my favorite time of the season: Mock draft season. We’ll be doing more than a few of these over the next few weeks, but with the Niners still showing big holes on both sides of the ball, we should identify some top targets now, five weeks before the NFL Draft. As of publishing, the 49ers have three picks in the first three rounds, Nos. 31, 63, and 94. And while it’s always imperative to nail your draft picks, that need is increased given those holes mentioned above, the team’s wide-open Super Bowl window, and the need (which has been present for a few years) to increase overall depth. So, if things break just right, here’s where I see the Niners heading today: 31. Ennis Rakestraw. CB. Movie review: A new canine cycles into our hearts in ‘Arthur the King’

Katie Walsh | Tribune News Service Move over Messi — there’s a new canine thespian in town. Ukai, the Australian shepherd/border collie/bouvier mix who stars opposite Mark Wahlberg in the new film “Arthur the King,” undertakes a performance that is more physically rigorous, if not dramatically suspenseful, than the one delivered by the French border collie who appeared in the Oscar-winning film “Anatomy of a Fall.” But dog movies, and dogs in movies, aren’t just having a moment, they’ve been an important part of cinema since the silent era — and an easy hack to access audience’s heartstrings. Not that Arthur’s tale needed much hacking to start with. This inspirational film is based on a true story, originally a quirky human interest sports news item about an Ecuadorian stray dog who bonded with a team of Swedish adventure racers in the middle of a grueling six-day trek, following them to the finish line, and eventually back to Sweden with racer Mikael Lindnord. The story became a media sensation, spawning a memoir and several other books by Lindnord, and a short ESPN documentary, as well as
