PLACERVILLE (CBS13) — A 48-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Placerville early Sunday morning, California Highway Patrol Placerville said. Authorities said the victim, of Orangevale, was traveling northbound on Salmon Falls Road at a high rate of speed on a 2017 Ducati Monster. The man reportedly lost control as he entered a curve in the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle. Officials said the victim then slid across the roadway and hit a wooden post connected to a guardrail. Despite lifesaving measures by responding personnel, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP Placerville said the incident is the 25th fatal collision and 27th overall fatality in their jurisdiction so far in 2019 — which they said already equals the 2018 total.

Multiple injuries were reported though the extent of the injuries is not known at this time. All passengers were taken to the hospital, officials said. Placer County Sheriff’s Department said the vehicle was stuck for over one hour. Multiple crews — with Cal Fire and California Highway Patrol — were on the scene where the five victims were reportedly trapped.
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A bloody and bizarre attack on state lawmakers on the Senate floor has one woman facing serious charges. State Senator Steve Glazer was one of the lawmakers hit with fluid the California Highway Patrol said appears to be blood. The woman who threw it — 43-year-old Rebecca Dalelio — said it was her own menstrual blood. “One hit me on the head, covered my suit and my desk,” Glazer said. Glazer showed photos of the bloody looking drops that hit him while he was sitting at his desk on the Senate floor. “I have gone through health check-ups to make sure I have not been infected with anything,” he said. Dalelio is facing assault and vandalism charges for the attack that came as lawmakers were voting on the Senate floor. In recorded audio from Cal Channel, you can hear a woman shout “That’s for the dead babies.” As the chamber was cleared by the CHP, a video showed Dalelio in a Capitol hallway — surrounded by officers wearing protective gloves — shouting the fluid she allegedly threw is her own menstrual blood.…

PLACER county (CBS13) — Jacob Howland says he used to ride around the twisting gravel road called Yankee Jim Road near Colfax when he was younger. Now, this same road brings up a darker set of memories for him. “Kids. Dumb choices. Drinking and driving,” Howland said. Howland’s 16-year-old daughter and stepdaughter were among the five people in an SUV that California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire said likely blew a tire before it went off of an embankment and crashed an estimated 200 feet below. “I broke down and I told my buddy, ‘Dude, there’s nothing but cliffs out there,’ I just started bawling. I thought they were dead,” Howland said. ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A 34-year-old man was arrested after a stolen vehicle pursuit that began in Elk Grove on Saturday, Elk Grove police said. Saturday evening, officers located a reported stolen vehicle occupied by Gonzalo Rodriguez. Police said Rodriguez then put the vehicle into reverse and purposefully backed into two patrol vehicles. The suspect then led officers on a chase north into Sacramento. In the area of Cosumnes River Boulevard and Interstate 5, Rodriguez reportedly was involved in a minor collision with a civilian vehicle and then entered a nearby field. In the field, deputies said Rodriguez exited the stolen vehicle and attempted to get away on foot. Rodriguez was eventually detained with help from a police K9. Elk Grove PD said one patrol vehicle caught fire while following the suspect into the open field due to dry grass. With the exception of Rodriguez, police said no other injuries were reported in the pursuit. The extent of Rodriguez’s injuries are not known, but police said he will be booked on several charges as soon as he is medically cleared from the hospital.
