Yuba City Man Attacked For Trying To Stop Car Burglary

YUBA CITY (CBS13) — A Yuba City man is in the hospital after he was attacked for trying to stop a would-be car burglary. Karl Sanders in his hospital bed after being assaulted attempting to stop a would-be burglar. Karl Sanders caught a teenager trying to break into his neighbor’s van Sunday morning. When he tried to intervene, he was attacked. Yuba City police say the would-be- burglar is a 16-year-old from Yuba City. They aren’t releasing his identity because of his age but said he’s in juvenile hall facing burglary and assault charges. Sanders saw him trying to break into his neighbor’s car and said he was just doing what he thought was right. Early Sunday morning Barbara Sanders got a call that her brother was hurt and she needed to go to his home in Yuba City, immediately. Sierra College Football Team Remembers Player Shot And Killed In Fair Oaks Shooting

ROCKLIN (CBS13) — Candles, football equipment, a championship t-shirt and the number 27 sit at the entrance of the Sierra College football stadium in Rocklin. It’s a memorial for a fallen Wolverine, Chancelor Fields-Colbert. Fields-Colbert was shot at a party at an Air BnB in Fair Oaks early Sunday morning. He ran from the house, collapsed at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Sunset Drive and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. I can’t remember seeing or finding any pictures that he wasn’t smiling in. But he epitomized everything that we call the Wolverine Way. He just did everything right.” A Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said the department is still investigating and looking for a suspect. Mother Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison For Murder Of 3-Year-Old Daughter

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A mother has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of her three-year-old daughter, Maiya. The jury found Angela Phakhin guilty of the premeditated murder and torture of the girl. Prosecutors said in June 2017, Phakhin left her daughter in a car for more than four hours. The next day, the girl was left in the car for nine hours, which ultimately led to her death. 49ers re-sign NaVorro Bowman for retirement purposes

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers are formally granting NaVorro Bowman’s wish to retire from the NFL via their roster. Bowman, a four-time All-Pro linebacker with the 49ers from 2010-17, was re-signed Monday as part of a plan to place him on the reserve/retired list Tuesday or later this week.
