Cabazon inmate, 55, dies at hospital

CABAZON – A 55-year-old inmate at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility suffered a life threatening incident Friday and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Riverside County sheriff’s officials said in a statement Saturday.
No foul play is suspected, the statement said.
The deceased man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation is being conducted by the department’s Cabazon station.
On Friday, June 16, 2017, a 55-year-old male inmate at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility suffered a life-threatening medical emergency.
Medical personnel immediately began life-saving efforts.  The male was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he succumbed to his condition and was pronounced deceased.
Authorities ask that anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact Investigator Hensley at the sheriff’s Cabazon Station at 951-922-7100.
