Why Warriors staffer Steve Nash doesn’t watch the Dubs much

Even though Steve Nash won an NBA championship ring with the Warriors, he wasn’t watching every minute of every playoff game.
Far from it.
Now a player development consultant with Golden State, the two-time MVP admitted Thursday that he keeps a certain amount of distance from Warriors games.
“I watch the Warriors because I’m involved with them and I love their team. But the reality is I don’t really watch full games, I just kind of follow and watch bits and pieces,” Nash told Yaron Weitzman of Bleacher Report . “So it’s probably bad for me to admit this, but I don’t watch a ton other than the Warriors. And even with them, I don’t watch all their games, though I do as much as I can.”

That’s largely because Nash doesn’t see his position with Golden State as a hands-on kind of gig.
“I think I have a pretty good feel for them,” Nash continued. “It’s important for me in my role to be the person who has an outside view of the Warriors and not be in the forest with the same unlimited amount of data and intimacy that they all have. I can come in from 30,000 feet, provide that view.
“Like, ‘Don’t forget a fundamental thing here that you created, Steve Kerr.'”

The Warriors head coach would seemingly appreciate that sort of feedback from anyone, let alone Nash — who was named an All-Star eight out of the 18 seasons he played in the league.
So it’s easy for Dub Nation to like the fact that Nash somewhat ignores the Warriors on the floor.
