Draymond Green giggled Thursday at the expense of Damian Lillard.
At least that’s the summation of Green’s post on Instagram telling Lillard to “give it a break” after the Blazers star and Oakland native reportedly wished the Warriors “good luck” if Portland acquires Carmelo Anthony.
Here is Green’s post, followed by a detailed explainer on the situation…

Let’s unwrap this whole thing:
1) Reports surfaced Wednesday about Lillard and C.J. McCollum reaching out to Anthony, inquiring about his interest in coming to Portland. Even though the Knicks reportedly agreed to send Anthony to the Rockets, the two Blazers guards are fantasizing of joining forces with Carmelo.
“He can help us a lot; we can help him,” McCollum said, according to The Oregonian . “He wants to play in the playoffs and be competitive. He’s a very talented player. I think if we get him — when we get him — I think (we’re) top three in the West, easy.”

2) Lillard went even further with his forecast: If the Blazers can get Anthony and face the Warriors in next year’s playoffs, Lillard said, then “good luck” to Golden State. That well-wishing phrase may spark ire among those in Dub Nation, especially since Lillard and Co. were just swept cleanly out of the playoffs by the eventual champion Warriors. Here’s the full quote, via NBC Sports Bay Area’s Drew Shiller .
“I can only imagine what it would be like having him iso-ing on one side, and C.J. in a corner, and me on the opposite wing and (Jusuf Nurkic),” Lillard said. “I can only imagine how hard it would be to guard us when it’s already hard to guard us. We can compete with anybody in the West, but I think when you get to those teams like Golden State, if we happen to run into them in a playoff situation now—we getting in the paint, and if they want to help off someone like Melo… Good luck.”
3) Draymond clearly gets Bleacher Report’s updates on its Team Stream app, because the the Golden State star snapped a screenshot of Lillard’s bold statement.
Green started his caption with five cry-laughing emojis and added “give it a break” before tagging Lillard — who, in April, basically waxed poetic about the Warriors after Portland’s first-round playoff defeat to them.
