Oakland liquor store, restaurant fires extinguished

OAKLAND — No immediate causes, reports of injuries or damage estimates were immediately available after fire struck an East Oakland liquor store and a Glenview restaurant Thursday night, authorities said.
At 9:35 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of fire with smoke showing at a liquor store at the intersection of 67th Avenue and International Boulevard, an Oakland Fire dispatcher said.
Four engines, a truck and a battalion chief responded, clearing the building and attacking flames while coordinating single-lane traffic shutdown along International Boulevard, according to tweets from the department’s Twitter account.
Within ten minutes, firefighters had cut a hole in the building’s roof for ventilation and had enough water on the fire to bring it nearly under control by 10:14 p.m..
At 9:53 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a small fire in a restaurant’s exhaust vent in the 4200 block of Park Boulevard, a diapatcher said.
Two engines, a truck and a battalion chief responded to the restaurant, bringing that fire under control by 10:07 p.m..
