Wondering what’s coming to the Veranda shopping center in Concord?

CONCORD — The Veranda shopping center under construction on the 30-acre former Chevron campus on Diamond Boulevard appears to be on schedule for a fall opening.
CenterCal Properties is building the 375,000-square-foot shopping center with space for about 50 tenants, including restaurants and retail shops on a 30-acre site next to the Willows shopping center and across Interstate 680 from Sunvalley mall.
The city expects the Veranda will generate at least $665,000 in sales tax dollars in fiscal year 2018-2019.
The project website offers this description: “The beautiful architecture, lush landscaping, water features and outstanding amenities will make The Veranda the top center where people can relax, shop, eat and attend a variety of special events.”
Thus far, it appears that a mix of retailers with established locations in the area and new entries to the market are coming to The Veranda, the first shopping center to be built in Concord in several decades. Here’s what we know:

Cinema West IMAX luxury movie theater with food and a bar will be the second IMAX theater in Contra Costa County, joining AMC Brentwood 14.
365 by Whole Foods Market, the upscale grocer’s chain of affordable stores offering high-quality brands and Whole Foods’ 365 Everyday Value line. Through the “Friends of 365” program, local entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to secure space inside the grocery stores to hawk prepared food, specialty merchandise or services.
Super Duper Burgers, a San Francisco-based chain that serves burgers, fries, shakes, house-made pickles, breakfast sandwiches and donuts.
 Peet’s Coffee
Toys ‘R Us, which has a location in Pleasant Hill directly across Interstate 680. The company declined to disclose its plans for existing store other than to say it will remain open until further notice.
TJ Maxx also has a store in Pleasant Hill on Pleasant Hill Road.
Cost Plus World Market has a store next door in the Willows.
Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, a stylish chain with eight locations in the Sacramento area, including in Roseville, Davis and Elk Grove.
