UC Riverside vocabulary program wins $2.7 million grant

A partnership between UC Riverside and the Moreno Valley Unified School District for a vocabulary learning program has received a $2.7 million federal grant.
The U.S. Department of Education grant will allow the program to continue and expand over the next five years, a UC Riverside news release states. The grant will focus on students from kindergarten through third, a key period for improving vocabulary knowledge.
The program, which is aimed at helping English learner students, launched in Moreno Valley and six other California districts in 2012.
