Calimesa man dies in single-vehicle crash near Yucaipa

YUCAIPA — A 36-year-old Calimesa resident was killed in a single-vehicle accident reported early Saturday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lane of Outer Highway 10 approaching Live Oak Canyon Road when a sedan left the road and hit a power pole, the statement said. Deputies responded to the accident at 12:23 a.m.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the driver and two passengers were not there.
Deputies learned later that after the collision, one of two passengers, Kyle Silva, 36, of Calimesa, was unresponsive.
The driver, Deann Weaver, 32, of Yucaipa, got an uninvolved motorist to pick up Silva, another passenger, and herself and drive them to Loma Linda University Medical Center so Silva could get treatment.
He later died of his injuries.
The other passenger sustained moderate injuries and was admitted to Loma Linda, Sgt. Marc Bracco said. Weaver was not injured.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, the statement said intoxication appears to be a contributing factor in the accident.
Bracco said that no charges has been filed in the case as of Saturday night.
