Tori Spelling announces CBS show, posts cute kid photos amid personal ‘chaos’

According to numerous reports, Tori Spelling’s marriage to Dean McDermott is “in shambles,” and she’s teetering on the brink of a nervous breakdown due to financial turmoil, the overwhelming demands of raising five young children and the fact that police keep getting called to deal with her family “chaos.”
But never mind.
She’s got a TV show in development with CBS and with her longtime friend and “Beverly Hills 90210” co-star Jennie Garth, People reported Monday. Indeed, Spelling dropped a hint about the show on her Instagram, sharing a photo of herself sitting in a car in the CBS lot on Friday and suggesting she was meeting up with Garth on a project related to “90210.”

Incidentally, this photo would have been shot a few hours before police showed up at a restaurant in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Tarzana where Spelling, 44, and McDermott, 51, were dining with their five children, Liam, 10, Stella, 9, Hattie, 6, Finn, 5, and Beau, 1, Us Weekly reported.

Authorities looked on while Spelling and McDermott appeared to be involved in some kind of intense conversation inside the Black Bear Diner, Us Weekly said. Later, police escorted the family out of the restaurant.
This would mark the fourth time in nine days that police have had contact with the couple. Police first rushed to the couple’s home in Woodland Hills after Spelling called on Feb. 28 to say she feared that someone was breaking in — but it turned out to be McDermott coming home.
The next morning, police rushed back to the home on a report that Spelling was having some kind of breakdown. Los Angeles police told The Blast that the disturbance involved an argument between Spelling and McDermott. Officers left the house saying there was no reason to arrest anyone and that Spelling didn’t meet the criteria to be held for a mental evaluation.
Then last Thursday, McDermott was reportedly concerned enough about his wife’s mental state that he called the police to track her down after she left the house with one of their children. Ventura County Sheriff’s units located her outside a doctor’s office in Thousand Oaks, where she had apparently brought their 1-year-old baby. Deputies determined she was OK, TMZ said.

Of course, Spelling has presented a different version of the state of her mental health and of her home life in her recent Instagram posts. On Sunday, she posted a photo of her looking blissful as her baby Beau napped beside her. “When I was little I never wanted to nap,” she captioned her photo. “As an adult I never could take naps. Now as a #mamabear of 5… I could watch them nap all day.”

But insiders continued to voice concerns about Spelling, saying that her marriage to McDermott is “in shambles,” Entertainment Tonight reported.
Spelling and her underemployed “working actor” husband continue to fight over money, child-rearing responsibilities and the fact that he was caught having an affair in 2013, another insider told Us Weekly.
“You would think the cheating, money problems and constant arguing would be enough for Tori to decide to divorce Dean, but she refuses to even discuss it,” the source told Us Weekly.
“Tori and Dean’s marriage is in shambles despite having a sit down last week to try to make it work,” that insider source for Entertainment Tonight said. “They made an attempt to use the tools given to them by their therapist to create a healthy environment for the kids but it isn’t working. One of Tori’s main issues with Dean is he isn’t helping with the kids as much as she feels he should. He used to do everything but has stepped away and started taking more time for himself.”
Spelling married McDermott in 2006, and the couple have five children together. As for McDermott, the Entertainment Tonight source said he’s just trying to keep the peace as much as he can.
Former “Beverly Hills, 90201” stars Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling star in an undated photo.
But Spelling “panics” when he goes out, fearing he’ll cheat again, and then she “flips” out and threatens him that she’ll leave with the kids, the source told Entertainment Tonight. That’s why he called the police last Thursday; he was worried she had left with one of their children.
“Dean doesn’t want the mother of his children to get arrested, he just wants to show Tori he is serious about watching her behavior around the children,” the source added. “Close friends only see this getting worse. Things don’t look good. It is causing total unrest in the home because the kids are present during her outbursts and threats.”
But perhaps the possibility of a new TV show with CBS will alleviate anxiety Spelling has reportedly been feeling over her family’s finances.
Various reports over the past several years have pointed out the ways that Spelling and McDermott face massive debt and struggle to meet their monthly bills, which include McDermott’s payments to his ex-wife to support their 19-year-old son’s college education.

Meanwhile, the couple try to enjoy the lifestyle of Hollywood royalty, reports have shown. Spelling is the daughter of the late mega-producer Aaron Spelling who famously left her only $800,000 out of his $600 million fortune, due to concerns about her reckless spending habits, according to a 2014 story in the New York Times.
People reported that Spelling’s still-unnamed project with Garth would be loosely based on “Beverly Hills 90210” and would star the actresses as “exaggerated versions of themselves.”
The show is still in development, but Spelling and Garth met with CBS executives about the series at the CBS Studio Center Friday, People said.
