Michael Caine, who’d support the death penalty for pedophiles, won’t work with Woody Allen again

Woody Allen directed Michael Caine in one of his most memorable, heartfelt performances as a cheating, lovesick husband in “Hannah and Her Sisters.” Caine won his first supporting actor Oscar for the 1986 film.

Despite that successful collaboration, and the fact that Caine introduced Allen to his one-time longtime partner Mia Farrow, Caine told The Guardian he could never again work with Allen.
The 84-year-old actor said he was “stunned” to learn that Dylan Farrow had accused her adopted father Allen of molesting her in 1992 when she was 7 years old.
Months before Dylan Farrow alleged molestation, Allen and Mia Farrow underwent an acrimonious split when she discovered that he had been having affair with  Soon-Yi Previn, her college-aged adopted daughter from her prior marriage to conductor Andre Previn.
Allen has repeatedly denied Dylan Farrow’s accusations over the years, which were investigated by Connecticut authorities. There were different conclusions on whether Dylan Farrow’s account of the alleged abuse was reliable or whether the little girl had been coached by her mother. Prosecutors opted to not bring the case to trial over concern that Dylan Farrow had already been traumatized.
In an interview in January, Dylan Farrow denied she had been “brainwashed” into believing her father abused her.
“I am so stunned,” Caine told The Guardian after he was asked about Dylan Farrow’s molestation allegations.
“I’m a patron of the NSPCC and have very strong views about pedophilia,” Caine said, referring to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, a UK nonprofit. “I can’t come to terms with it, because I loved Woody and had a wonderful time with him. I even introduced him to Mia [Farrow]. I don’t regret working with him, which I did in complete innocence; but I wouldn’t work with him again, no.”

Caine has previously voiced pretty strong views on pedophiles. In 2010 he said to the Daily Telegraph : “I’m quite a rabid right-winger about pedophilia. If you want to bring back hanging for them then I’m your man. I’ll pull the lever. Don’t get me started on that. I hate it. Hate it. I can’t see a movie where a child gets kidnapped, so, yeah, that must be the psychological detritus I’m left with.”
Caine has become the latest star to denounce the auteur after working with him. The others include Timothée Chalamet, Mira Sorvino, Colin Firth, Rebecca Hall and Greta Gerwig.
