CHP: One dead after car hits pedestrian on northbound Golden Gate Bridge, all lanes closed

SAN FRANCISCO — The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert, closing all lanes on the Golden Gate Bridge after a vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian, authorities said Monday.
Officers responded to the report of the collision at 8:53 p.m. in northbound Highway 101 lanes just north of the bridge toll plaza, a CHP officer said.
A Sig-alert was initially issued at 8:56 p.m. with no estimated time of reopening, but the CHP updated it at 9:33 p.m. to say all lanes were closed and should reopen by 10:30 p.m., the officer said.
No information was immediately available on the involved vehicle or whether alcohol or drugs were possible factors in the collision. Check back for updates.
