Palm trees, dry brush feed small ‘human-caused’ blaze in Coachella
Firefighters stopped a “human-caused” blaze that burned about 15 acres of dry brush and palm trees after breaking out early Sunday in Coachella.
The blaze was several miles from the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
The fire, which broke out in the 46600 block of Tyler Street, was reported at 4:38 a.m. and its forward movement was stopped about four hours later, Cal Fire/Riverside County reported. It was reported contained by mid-afternoon Sunday
No injuries were reported. While firefighters determined the blaze was caused by a person, it remained under investigation.
