Lafayette: Council makes another Planning Commission appointment

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette City Council appointed architectural designer Kristina Strum to the Planning Commission, bringing the total number to four on the panel.
Sturm was appointed at the council’s May 14 meeting to the Planning Commission. Sturm, who has lived in Lafayette for more than eight years, has served on the city’s Circulation Commission, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, the Downtown Congestion Study Committee and the 2015 Sales Tax Revenue Committee.

She joins Vice Chair Gary Huisingh, Steven Bliss and recently appointed member Gregory Mason on the Planning Commission.
In late March, five of the seven members of the Planning Commission resigned, citing the city’s new, strict conflict-of-interest policy. In early April, the council decided to double as the Planning Commission and reduced the number on the commission to five members on an interim basis, pending the appointments.
The Planning Commission is responsible for Lafayette’s general plan and zoning ordinance and review of development applications.
