Road rage injures woman, damages cars in Pleasant Hill

PLEASANT HILL — A road-rage attack by a man suspected to be under the influence injured a woman and damaged two cars Thursday, police said.
Officers arrested Hamid Ahmadi, 28, of Antioch, on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, Pleasant Hill police Cpl. James Woehrman said. Ahmadi is suspected of ramming a vehicle into the back of another one about 4:45 p.m. on Chilpancingo Parkway between Camelback and Old Quarry roads.
Police said Ahmadi drove a gold Volkswagen south and smashed into the rear of one car. He is suspected of driving that car and another one off the road.
A 68-year-old Pleasant Hill woman suffered a back injury, and told the this news organization in a Friday call that she suspects she has a concussion. She did not wish to be identified.
According to the woman, she saw in her rearview mirror the Volkswagen come up on her and that it rammed into her 2010 Toyota Corolla “really hard.” The driver then did it again, she said, and she pulled over to the side of the road after he’d hit her hard enough to send her Toyota into a parked car.
The woman said the driver then parked, got out of the car, yelled and punched her driver-side window several times, eventually smashing it. He also grabbed a wad of one-dollar bills out of his trunk, she said, and threw it at her.

“I really thought I was going to die,” she said.
Woerhman confirmed the woman’s version of events. Ahmadi remained in custody Friday at County Jail in Martinez.
