Scholarships for students from eight Corona-Norco schools

The Woman’s Improvement Club of Corona recently presented scholarships to graduating seniors from eight high schools in the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
Scholarship recipients are Gabriela Gomez, Centennial High School; Yerin Kim and Nichole Knight, Corona High School; Noor Nindra and Marne Waterman, John F. Kennedy High School; Griselda Hilario, Lee Pollard High School; Lorelie Copp and Michelle Ho, Norco High School; Alexia Castillo and Jessica Terrazas, Orange Grove High School; Ernesto Lara and Nidia Rojas del Real, Eleanor Roosevelt High School; and Guadalupe Palacios and Kaityln Gandara, Santiago High School.
The students will also be recognized at their schools’ awards assemblies, receiving $500 scholarships to a variety of colleges.
Also honored at the May 10 dinner at the clubhouse were the parents of the students, school counselors and members of the Corona-Norco Unified School District school board.

At the dinner, Christine Hunt, president of the Woman’s Improvement Club, accepted recognition for the club’s service to the community since its founding in 1899 from representatives of Assembly Member Sabrina Cervantes, County Supervisor John F. Tavaglione and Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel.
Boy Scout Troop 523’s Flag Team presented the colors, and Maximillian Hernandez of Troop 523 sang the national anthem.
Nancy Hernandez is the club’s scholarship chairman.
