Letter: Measure D allows libraries to be a safe place for teens, learning

Measure D allows libraries tobe a safe place for learning
I’m a senior at Oakland Tech and I believe that the Oakland Public Library is a valuable resource for everyone who lives in Oakland. So in addition to my studies this spring, I’m helping spread the word about Measure D on the June 5 ballot.
Even though I’m young, I am passionate about keeping our libraries open. Without Measure D, branches will close and people will lose their jobs. If the measure passes, libraries can continue to provide safe places for teens like me to chill and to learn more about things we are interested in.

I want to connect with people in my community and share how important the library has been to me. It has helped me succeed despite the challenges kids face today, and I want to see it succeed too.
