Music of Remembrance delivers themes of defiance in SF concert

As part of its 20th anniversary season, Music of Remembrance makes a one-night-only appearance in San Francisco May 24. In a program titled “Voices of Witness,” the Seattle-based ensemble, which includes members of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, will present music on themes of Holocaust defiance and reflections on the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II.
Featured works include the Bay Area premieres of “Snow Falls,” by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, and “Gaman” by Christophe Chagnard, and a performance of Paul Schoenfield’s “Sparks of Glory,” based on Holocaust accounts. Soloists include baritone Erich Parce and sopranos Roslyn Barak and Ann Moss.
