OAKLAND — Kevin Durant was asked Monday if he liked Stephen Curry’s unfiltered, profane moment in the Warriors’ 126-85 win over Houston in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday.
He responded with some profanity of his own.
“F*** yeah,” Durant said.
Curry’s uncharacteristic slip happened after he drove to the basket in the third quarter and made a contested one-handed shot.
“This is my (F******) house!” Curry shouted to the fans at Oracle Arena in celebration.
It was a moment of unbridled excitement for Curry, who needed a breakthrough game after having sludged through a recent shooting slump. In Game 3, he had 35 points, scoring 18 of them in the third quarter.
Even though it was Curry’s first time scoring 30-plus points in the playoffs this season, his mother apparently wasn’t willing to cut him any slack.
“She already sent me two home videos, showing me the clip and playing it back,” Curry told ESPN on Sunday. “She was telling me how I need to wash my mouth out, saying to wash it out with soap. It’s a message I’ve heard before.”
But Durant sees things another way.
He enjoys it when Curry, a two-time MVP, lets loose a bit with his tongue, especially if it means he fires up the crowd.
“When he releases an F-bomb, of course, I like it because that word is just an important word when you’re playing basketball,” Durant said. “It means so much. But I just like his excitement for the game and his intensity. The crowd feeds off of that and we feed off of the crowd.”
