Hayward cop, suspect injured in officer-involved shooting

HAYWARD — An officer and a suspect were injured in an officer-involved shooting in Hayward on Monday night, police said.
The shooting occurred on the 100 block of Hewitt Place at about 7 p.m., according to police.

In a Facebook post, Hayward police said an officer shot and injured a suspect. Police did not disclose the extent of the suspect’s injuries.
A Hayward officer also suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was being treated at a hospital, according to police. It wasn’t immediately clear if it was the same officer who shot the suspect.

Additional details about the officer-involved shooting were not immediately available late Monday night.
“We are investigating this incident and will update you as soon as possible,” police said in the post.
