Standoff underway at Paradise Hills apartment

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man suspected in a domestic violence incident is barricaded inside a Paradise Hills apartment, prompting a standoff at the complex.

The incident began shortly before 6 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 6800 block of Potomac Street, according to police.

Police did not immediately provide details on what led to the standoff, but officials confirmed it began as a domestic violence-related incident.

As of 7:30 a.m., the man is believed to be in an apartment unit by himself and is possibly armed with a handgun.

Police told 10News the man has a criminal history that involves robbery and assault.

Police at the scene are attempting to contact the man via a bullhorn and by phone, but he has refused to answer them.

Apartment residents have not been evacuated.
