TV tonight: ‘Survivor’ crowns its latest champion

TV picks for Wednesday, May 23
WATCH THIS:
“Survivor” (8 p.m., CBS): For weeks, we’ve been watching people run around Ghost Island in their underwear. Now, it’s time to wrap this thing up. The back-stabbing and blind-siding ends tonight as our winner is crowned. And, as usual, host Jeff Probst will grill the castaways in the reunion special.
“Empire” (8 p.m., Fox): In the season finale, as the Empire ownership bid presentation nears, Lucious must make a difficult decision to save the future of the company and his family, while Eddie shows no signs of backing down. However, Cookie reveals a potential upper hand in the power play for Empire, after doing a little digging into her past. Meanwhile, Andre makes a power play of his own, Hakeem’s high spirits come to a quick end due to a threat and Jamal and Tory  struggle to cope with the success of their new music group.
“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (9 p.m., NBC): The season comes to a close with back-to-back episodes. When a young woman (guest star Genesis Rodriguez) takes a man hostage at gunpoint, Benson makes a dangerous attempt to defuse the situation. Meanwhile, the SVU discovers the shocking motive behind the abduction.
“Star” (9 p.m., Fox): As the drama series wraps up its season, Take 3’s future as a group is at risk because of clashing egos. Noah’s continued substance use jeopardizes his relationships with the people who care about him most and Simone and Angel’s relationship faces the biggest test yet. Meanwhile, Ayanna undergoes a major life change and Cassie (guest star Brandy Norwood) and Carlotta’s sibling feud comes to a head.
Jonathan and Drew Scott
“Brother vs. Brother: Jonathan vs. Drew” (9 p.m., HGTV): Drew and Jonathan Scott resume their sibling rivalry as they launch a new season of their popular home renovation show. And this time, they’re doing their thing in the red-hot Bay Area real estate market. (Check out our preview interview with the guys ).
“The Americans” (10 p.m., FX): In the penultimate episode of the final season, Elizabeth wrestles with competing loyalties, and Philip has an encounter that turns into much more than he had bargained for.
