How to check if you are still registered to vote

Worried the state and local registrars may have purged your voter registration as they clean up voter rolls? We’re hearing from a lot of Santa Clara County residents who have discovered just weeks before the June 5 primary that they were accidentally erased.
You can check your registration status online on the statewide database at  voterstatus.sos.ca.gov . Just type in your name, driver’s license number, last four digits of your Social Security number and date of birth to confirm you are registered — and where to vote.
Why the confusion?
California in 2016 launched a $98 million centralized statewide online voter database, VoteCal, that had been more than a decade in the making to comply with the Help America Vote Act of 2002.
As part of its implementation, the California Secretary of State has been alerting county elections officials of cases in which there may be duplicate registration records in order to clean out old records under the voter’s former addresses or maiden names.
County officials are then supposed to investigate and cancel old registrations if warranted.

But in Santa Clara County, several voters have reported they were unknowingly taken off the registration rolls — something they realized only after noticing that friends or spouses were receiving election materials and they were not. Santa Clara County officials have blamed one cancellation on a staff error and another on another county, and are investigating other reported cases.
