KC’s Bar-B-Que rises from the ashes in Berkeley

Alert the East Bay fans:  KC’s Bar-B-Que is back in action.
The West Berkeley institution destroyed by fire in February of 2017 has reopened in a new location a couple of miles north of the San Pablo Avenue original, which was founded in 1968.
The Davis family — Patrick Davis inherited the business from his Arkansas-born father — and their team are now smoking brisket, ribs, links and chicken at 1235 San Pablo Ave., near Gilman Street. The space was formerly occupied by Meal Ticket (whose operators are now enjoying a well-deserved retirement).

For now, the restaurant is holding “temporary hours” from noon to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. But those will be expanded after the grand opening at noon June 2.
And there’s breakfast too, on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stay tuned for menu details.
