Pair of thefts at Riverside gun store prompts ATF reward for suspect info

Federal authorities announced Wednesday a reward of up to $10,000 for information about thieves who took several firearms from a Riverside gun store twice in the last month.
Thieves broke in the front door at Centerfire Firearms, at 3696 Sunnyside Drive in Riverside, about 5 a.m. May 26 and took eight long guns, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Field Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The second time, three people broke into the store about 3 a.m. June 9 and took 15 firearms before fleeing in a dark gray or possibly black four-door sedan.
ATF is working with Riverside police in seeking the public’s help to identify the suspects and the whereabouts of the stolen guns.
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrests of suspects for firearms stolen from a federal firearms licensee, said Bill McMullan, special agent in charge of the ATF Los Angeles Field Division, in the news release.
ATF is offering $5,000 and the National Sports Shooting Foundation, the trade association for the firearms industry, is offering $5,000 for a total reward up to $10,000, the news release stated. The reward is part of a larger initiative where NSSF matches up to $5,000 of ATF’s reward in cases involving firearms theft from federally licensed gun retailers.
“The trend of stealing firearms from licensed gun dealers is on the rise,” McMullan said, in the release. “This is not acceptable. ATF is dedicated to tracking down those responsible.”
Anyone with information about the incidents can contact ATF at 951-320-7576 or Riverside police Detective James Elliott at 951-826-8729. Callers can remain anonymous.
