Riverside police stop suicidal man from walking onto 91 Freeway

Two Riverside police officers stopped a suicidal man from jumping onto the 91 Freeway late Friday night, June 22, the Police Department said.
The officers, assigned to downtown entertainment district, saw the man walk onto the eastbound on ramp to the 91 about 11:15 p.m., a department Facebook post said. He continued to walk toward the freeway lanes, so the officers stopped their patrol car behind him.
The man ran away and tried to jump off the 50-foot-high wall. The officers grabbed him just as he put one leg over the wall. The man, who was crying and distraught, said he planned to kill himself by walking into traffic. He was taken to a mental-health facility.
