Firefighters extinguish Uptown Oakland building fire

OAKLAND — Firefighters with the Oakland Fire Department made quick work of a roof fire in the city’s Uptown-Valdez neighborhood.
At 7:41 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of smoke and fire coming from a building roof in the 2400 block of Valdez Street, an Oakland fire dispatcher said.
Within minutes, firefighters from at least one truck had water on the flames, swiftly extinguishing it.
No injuries were initially reported, and a call to an Oakland Fire Department battalion chief was not immediately returned.
