Kobie Beltram, Eastern Michigan football: The Antioch grad led Eastern Michigan with 9 tackles in season opener against Monmouth University — a 51-17 triumph.
Ben Burr-Kirven, Washington football: The Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week led the a defense that held Utah to just seven points and 261 yards of total offense in a 21-7 Huskies win in Salt Lake City. For a third-straight game, the former Sacred Heart Prep standout led the Huskies with 11 tackles.
Miles Kendrick, Kansas football: The dual-threat quarterback who led Valley Christian to a state final two years ago and spent one season at College of San Mateo completed 6 of 11 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown and ran for 28 yards and a touchdown to help Kansas cruise past Rutgers 55-14 on Saturday.

Jordan Mims, Fresno State football: The sophomore out of Menlo-Atherton ran for 85 yards in 21 carries to help Fresno State beat UCLA 38-14 in Pasadena, while teammate KeeSean Johnson (Palo Alto) also had 85 yards on eight receptions.
Robert Miranda, Yale men’s cross country: The freshman out of Menlo School placed third in a 6K race against Harvard.
