San Jose: Two people killed in crash on Capitol Expressway

SAN JOSE — A woman and man were killed Thursday morning when their car crashed into a tree on E. Capitol Expressway, according to police.
At about 8:24 a.m., the female driver and male passenger were traveling eastbound on E. Capitol in a 2000 Toyota Camry approaching Seven Trees Boulevard when it made an abrupt lane change. The car went from the far right lane to the far left lane, an action that caused the Toyota to swerve into the center median, where it struck a tree.
The woman and man were pronounced deceased at the scene, the city’s 41st and 42nd traffic-related fatality of 2018. Their names have not yet been released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
