CHP issues alert after fatal Hwy. 4 crash in Concord

CONCORD — The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert closing lanes of Highway 4 after a vehicle spun out and crashed, killing at least one person Sunday.
Shortly after 9:25 p.m., officers learned of the crash involving a silver sedan and another vehicle in eastbound lanes just west of the highway’s Willow Pass Road off-ramp.
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters also were dispatched to the crash, but at least one person was pronounced dead. Another person was arrested at the scene, but no charges were immediately available, CHP Officer Damian Cistaro said.
Officers issued a Sig-alert at 9:43 p.m., advising drivers that the Nos. 1-3 eastbound lanes were blocked, with no estimated time of reopening, and to avoid the area.
No word was immediately available on any other injuries.
