3 found dead after shooting in gated Porter Ranch community

Three people were found dead following reports of gunfire at an upscale gated community in Porter Ranch on Monday, Feb. 18.
Officers responded to a home in the 20300 block of Via Galileo at about 3:53 p.m. and found three people dead, said Sal Ramirez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. He said officers suspect a shooting may have resulted from a burglary attempt.

Three men who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds were declared dead at the scene, police officials said in an update just before 7 p.m. Earlier, police had said a woman was among those killed.
LAPD Commander Alan Hamilton said a fourth person may have been in the home and left before police arrived.
He said someone, believed to be associated with the people in the home, made a 911 call. That brought out the Los Angeles Fire Department, which then notified police, Hamilton said.

Hamilton did not give a description of a person they believed left the residence during the incident, but he said the LAPD is seeking more info from the public that could help them. He added “It’s very important that people … do not come into the area if we have it closed off.”

Hamilton said there was a “large crime scene” and investigators were looking for evidence in the home and around the neighborhood. An LAPD command post was set up at the scene.
