Arts, sounds to fill downtown San Bernardino on Saturday, Feb. 23

The same San Bernardino County nonprofit group that breathed nightlife into downtown San Bernardino late last year is doing so again this weekend.
Arts Connection, which serves artists, art organizations, art patrons and the community, is hosting an Arts and Sounds event at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in the downtown Breezeway, 459 W. 4th St., between E and D, 4th and Court streets.
Admission is free, though guests can donate $10 to the cause.
The art portion of the event starts at 4 p.m. in The Little Gallery of San Bernardino, where a woodworker will be the highlighted artist.
The sounds begin at 6 p.m. and are set to include award-winning writers, poets and performance artists in an open-mic setting.
In December, Arts Connection, The Little Gallery of San Bernardino, David Friedman and Viva La Boba held an imaginative Art Walk and Community Mixer in the heart of the city for several dozen people.
A few weeks later, another successful art walk was staged downtown, that one by Generation Now, a youth activist group.

“We started with bringing community members together to look at the city from different angles, to hear the stories of downtown,” Arts Connection Executive Director Jennifer Kane said. “Now we want to take the next step in expanding community voices and getting more people to the table who didn’t come to the last event.
“After that last mixer, more people are on the team – people inspired by what we got started.”
