CCS soccer: WCAL sweeps Open Division titles at Buck Shaw

SANTA CLARA — Archbishop Mitty and Bellarmine continued to pad their respective — and expansive — soccer résumé when it comes to the Central Coast Section playoffs at Buck Shaw Stadium on Friday night.
Mitty, now a 15-time CCS girls soccer champion, earned back-to-back Open Division titles after a 1-0 victory over St. Ignatius.
Bellarmine, now a 19-time CCS boys soccer champion, etched its legacy onto the Open Division for the first time since its inception in 2016.
“It was long overdue, I’m very happy for our guys,” said Bellarmine coach Conor Salcido, who seconds later was doused with a Gatorade bath on a frigid night at Santa Clara University.
