Los Gatos community briefs for the week of March 15

Young Writers Workshop
Friends of Los Gatos Library are hosting their annual Young Writers Workshops on March 30. The workshop, led by Los Gatos author Cheryl McKenzie for children ages 9-12, will be held in the community room of the Los Gatos Recreation Center, 208 E. Main St., from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
McKenzie will explain character creation, plot and story development to young writers of any level of experience and skill. Friends volunteers will be available to serve as private secretaries who write while the young author dictates the story.
The author, who writes young adult novels under the name of C. Lee McKenzie, will have her books, including “Sliding on the Edge” and “The Princess of Las Pulgas,” available for signing and sale.
Participants are asked to bring a bag lunch to the Saturday workshop. Friends of the Library will provide writer’s journals and all writing materials plus water, juice drinks and cookies.
Workshop registration forms are available in the children’s section of the Los Gatos Library or online at http://www.friendsoflglibrary.org . Completed registration forms, along with a check for $15 made out to Friends of Los Gatos Library, should be delivered to the library circulation desk or mailed to the library at 100 Villa Ave, Los Gatos, 95030.
Students will receive confirmation of registration by phone or email. For more information call the Friends message line at 408-399-5700 or email baumrita@icloud.com .
