Fire reported at Elmwood jail in Milpitas

A fire was reported Sunday morning at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, an official said.
The fire was reported around 10:25, according to Deputy Michael Low with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
The Milpitas Fire Department is at the jail working on the blaze, but as of around 11 a.m., the fire had been contained, Low said.
“There was no sign of arson or anything like that,” Low said, noting it could have been an electrical fire, but the cause is still under investigation.
The fire broke out in one of the two-story barracks where inmates are housed, Low said, but there were no reports of injuries to inmates or jail staff, Low said.
Low said authorities had set up a perimeter around the jail facility.
