Spend an evening with C.S. Lewis in Saratoga

Here’s a red alert to lovers of “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
Noted writer C.S. Lewis is inviting you and a group of other Americans intrigued by his brilliance into his home studio in Oxford, England, for a stimulating evening of conversation. Well, a very reputable impersonator of the renowned author, that is, and the Carriage House Theatre at the Montalvo Arts Center will be the suitable stand-in for the Lewis residence.
Actor David Payne, who has played Lewis in a number of productions of  “Shadowlands,” the play about the writer’s life, since 1996, is now touring with his one-man show, “An Evening With C.S. Lewis.” It lands at the intimate 316-seat venue in Saratoga on March 14, with Payne playing the novelist, essayist, literary critic and celebrated raconteur to the hilt. Arrive early enough, and you can mill about in the Project Space ArtBar, where wine, beer and other beverages will be on sale before the show.
The show arrives at Montalvo just as the acclaimed “Narnia”-inspired Bruce Munro installation, “Stories in Light,” sees its final weekend at the venue .
