Informational forum set for public records access

A free informational forum on access to law enforcement and public records will be held Thursday night at the Chico branch of the Butte County Library.
Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Butte County, the forum, called “Law Enforcement Records: Public or Private?” will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m.
Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea, George Gold of Concerned Citizens for Justice, and Dave Waddell, corresponding editor of, will address transparency and access to law enforcement and public records with a question and answer session following the panel.
Topics include public access to public records, the process to access records, a review of Senate Bill 1421, alternative means for transparency, public review and oversight, and the role of media in transparency and public access to information.
