Free pancakes: IHOP kicks off annual fundraiser for children

IHOP’s annual pancake giveaway comes this year with a new name, one meant to inform its customers that there’s a good cause behind this flapjack freebie.
The company has declared Tuesday, March 12, as “IHOP Free Pancake Day – Flip it Forward for Kids.”  Starting at 7 a.m., customers may show up at any of the chain’s Bay Area restaurants and receive a free short stack of pancakes. Depending on location, the offer ends at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m.; check with your nearest IHOP for their hours.
In exchange, IHOP hopes customers will make a donation to that will go to the restaurant’s charity partners: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals), the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Diners can also donate by purchasing a $5 wall icon that comes with a $5 coupon good for a future purchase of $10 or more at participating restaurants. Also, cash and check donations will be accepted through March 31 for any diners who can’t stop by Tuesday.
