Letter: This housing plan will ruin many premium Bay Area communities

CASA plan will ruin many
premium communities
Re: “Housing group finds its CASA isn’t their casa” (Page A1, March 4):
As most know, a slum may be coming to a neighborhood near you.
CASA, Plan Bay Area 2040, ABAG and MTC intend to shove thousands of high-density housing units into our communities. A portion will be for low- to very-low-income residents.
These agencies are governed by unelected bureaucrats who have disdain for the wishes of voters. CASA claims there is a “housing crisis” and shortage. Interestingly, locators, rental websites list thousands of vacant units. If there was such a shortage, there should be very long waiting lists.
CASA complains housing is expensive. Bay Area housing has always been costly. True, many may not be able to afford a home in Danville, Orinda or Atherton, but is that not just economic reality?

Zoning laws were created to ensure commonality in a community. In reality, this will ruin many premium communities.
