Authorities on Tuesday, March 12, charged the boyfriend of Trinity Love Jones’ mother with killing the 9-year-old girl whose body was dumped near a trail in Hacienda Heights last week.
Emiel Lamar Hunt, 38, was scheduled to be in Pomona Superior Court Tuesday afternoon.
Last week, the body was discovered by at least one Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation employee doing maintenance work on the trail off of Hacienda Boulevard. The girl’s body was partly inside a bag, with her head and part of her upper body protuding from it.
Detectives had eleased a composite sketch and pleaded for the public’s help in identifying her. Residents from different communities held a vigil and some gave the then-unidentified child the name of “Justice.”
She was publicly identified Sunday.
On Saturday, detectives found Hunt sleeping in his vehicle, which was parked in a lot near San Diego International Airport, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement. One other person has been detained as well.
“Information regarding the second person of interest is being withheld pending further investigation,” the statement said.
