Andrew Bogut is targeting his return following the Warriors’ four-game trip, his agent, David Bauman, told Bay Area News Group. Although nothing is finalized, Bogut could play as early as when the Warriors host the Indiana Pacers on March 21 at Oracle Arena.
Bogut had initially hoped to join the Warriors at some point during their four-game trip. But after signing a veteran’s minimum deal on March 6, Bogut has been the process of acquiring a work visa since he is an Australian native.
Bogut spoke with immigration officials at a U.S. Consulate in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday local time so that he could receive a work visa directly instead of traveling to Vancouver. Bogut gave his passport to immigration officials so that they can attach a work visa, which he expects to receive by the weekend. Bogut then plans to fly to the Bay Area.
A typical flight from Australia to the Bay Area takes about 15 hours. So it would be logistically difficult for Bogut to join the Warriors on their trip that includes stops in Houston (Wednesday), Oklahoma City (Saturday), San Antonio (Monday) and Minnesota (Tuesday).
The Warriors are not scheduled to practice on March 20 following a back-to-back. So it is not currently clear if the Warriors would want him to practice before appearing in a game. But Bogut plans to work out at the Warriors’ practice facility once he arrives.
