Movin’ On Up: Keeping track of former Bay Area prep athletes

James Akinjo, Georgetown men’s basketball: The guard, a Salesian graduate, was named Big East Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season. In an 86-84 road victory over Marquette, he poured in 25 points, five assists and five rebounds. In a 101-69 loss to DePaul, Akinjo had 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Entering this week, last year’s Bay Area News Group Player of the Year led all Big East players with 5.4 assists per game and was second among freshmen in scoring with 13.4 points per game.
Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic (NBA): The product out of Archbishop Mitty is fighting for a spot in the NBA playoffs and 18 points, six rebounds, three steals and three blocks in a 111-106 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
