Lewis Broschard named new fire chief of Contra Costa County Fire Protection District

PLEASANT HILL — A longtime deputy fire chief within the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District has been tapped to run the show.
Lewis Broschard will take over as Fire Chief for the district on April 1. Current Fire Chief Jeff Carman is retiring.
The district’s Fire Board of Directors appointed Broschard to the head of command.
Broschard worked as Carman’s deputy chief for 11 years, and Carman previously had expressed his opinion that Broschard would be the natural one to replace him.
Neither was available immediately for comment.
