Mendocino Farms’ first East Bay restaurant opens today

Mendocino Farms , a creator of seasonal and healthy sandwiches and salads, has opened its first East Bay location today — in co-founder Ellen Chen’s home county of Contra Costa.
The restaurant joined the new City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon.
Owners Chen and Mario Del Pero (they’re NorCal expats, and she’s a native of Lafayette) first started expanding their Southern California operation to the Bay Area about a year and a half ago. They’ve opened at the Pruneyard in Campbell, at Santana Row in San Jose and Park Place in San Mateo, along with San Francisco and Sacramento.
This San Ramon location is showcasing the new springtime menu, including Green Goddess Avocado Toast, made with free-range turkey; Salade Nicoise with line-caught yellowfin tuna; and the Impossible Burger Queen, a Southwestern-spiced meat-free patty topped with tomato cayenne Chao cheese, smoky Thousand Island and house-made bread and butter pickles.
Ten beers are on tap here, and 10 wines are offered by the glass.
Each Mendo Farms gets a design of its own, and this one is a glass-enclosed space featuring a hand-painted mural of “Mendo’s Food Journey,” a wrap-around patio with foosball and a children’s corner with the restaurant’s signature chalkboard wall.
