Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce honors people, businesses at annual dinner

The Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce has again handed out awards to business and other leaders.
The honors were presented Thursday, March 21, at the chamber’s 119th Inaugural Celebration.
The awards included:
Business of the Year Award: Altura Credit Union
Citizen of the Year Award: John Tavaglione, who retired in December from the Riverside County Board of Supervisors after serving since the 1990s.
Outgoing Chair: Joseph Ortiz, of Best Best & Krieger
Incoming Chair: Robert Hicks, of Stream Kim Hicks Wrage & Alfaro
Civic Achievement Award: Pastor Tom Lance of the Grove Community Church, Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey and Brian Jaramillo of Tilden-Coil Constructors. They organized an effort to build and open The Grove Village Project to house homeless families on the church campus.

Ambassador of the Year: James Needham, of Affordable Technology, for reaching out to chamber members.
Chairman’s Award: Assemblyman Jose Medina, D-Riverside, and Ofelia Valdez-Yeager, for helping find funding for the planned Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry of the Riverside Art Museum .
President’s Award: Cliff Ratkovich and Rob Dodman, of Imperial Hardware Lofts , for bolstering downtown economic growth with the project.
Volunteer of the Year: Brian Hawley, of Luminex Software, Inc. for his work on the water rate task force.
