17-year-old girl killed in Discovery Bay crash is identified

DISCOVERY BAY — A 17-year-old Brentwood girl killed Saturday night when her car crashed into a wall was identified by the coroner’s office Monday as Avery Hickok.
No other information about her was released.
The California Highway Patrol said the wreck happened about 11:46 p.m. Saturday at the end of Lakeshore Circle.
Authorities said Hickok was the only occupant of a 2012 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling on Lakeshore Circle toward the end of the roadway when it went through a metal guard rail before crashing into a concrete wall. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP said it appeared she was not wearing a seat belt.
The investigation is continuing and the CHP said it is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information about  the events leading up to it are asked to call the CHP’s Martinez office at  925-646-4980.
