LOS ANGELES — Gene Simmons and Yoongi of BTS were here Tuesday night. The comedian known as “Fluffy” (Gabriel Iglesias) made an appearance Wednesday.
Undistracted by such star power, the Dodgers kept on winning.
They scored twice in the seventh inning and again in the eighth on Justin Turner’s fourth home run in the past two games to secure a 9-4 victory Wednesday night and complete a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves.
Unlike last year’s six-week hole-digging to start the season, the Dodgers have not spent a day under .500 this season – and it doesn’t look like they will. They have won 10 of their last 13 games and three of their past four series (including two sweeps). Two of the three losses were by a single run and they have outscored their opponents 70-42 during this stretch.
The Dodgers have the best record in the National League (25-14), the most wins in the majors and are only percentage points behind the Minnesota Twins (23-12) for the best record in baseball.
They bolted to the front Wednesday on Kiké Hernandez’s two-run home run in the second inning and responded with multi-run innings each time the Braves pulled within a run. Max Muncy drove in two runs – on a solo home run in the third and an RBI single in the fifth. Another run scored on a wild pitch by Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz to make it 5-2.
Over his past 11 games, Muncy has been a familiar offensive force – he is 15 for 39 (.385) with a double, three home runs and 14 RBIs.
Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw was not at his best. He gave up a season-high nine hits (and struck out a season-low four) in his 6-2/3 innings and allowed more hard-hit balls that could have created trouble. Cody Bellinger ran down Josh Donaldson’s slicing drive in the right field corner to end the third inning. Alex Verdugo went to the warning track in center field twice to catch back-to-back long flies by Ronald Acuña Jr. and Nick Markakis in the sixth.

The Braves did damage Kershaw’s bottom line in the fourth when Freddie Freeman’s double off the wall in right-center field was followed by a two-run home run by Acuña that made it a one-run game, 3-2.
The Braves got to Kershaw again in the seventh with three consecutive two-out singles (two of which never left the infield), cutting the lead to two. When Freeman greeted Scott Alexander with an RBI single, it was a one-run game again, 5-4.
But a grab bag of two walks (including the second intentional walk of Bellinger in the game) and three singles produced two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Corey Seager beat out an infield single for one run and Verdugo drove in the other with a single to center.
Turner took a more direct route with a two-run home run in the eighth inning.
Dylan Floro and Joe Kelly closed it out, combining for 2-1/3 uneventful innings in relief.
