Memorial Day: Bay Area’s festival-packed weekend

Family: The Bay Area KidFest runs all three days this holiday weekend — Friday, Saturday and Memorial Day — at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord. The San Ramon Art & Wind Festival will be held Sunday and Monday at Central Park.
Food /beer: In the South Bay, downtown Morgan Hill will hold its annual Mushroom Mardi Gras on both Saturday and Sunday. In the East Bay, there are two Saturday-only events, the Fremont Burger & Brew Fest in downtown Fremont and a Session Beer Festival at Jack London Square in Oakland.
History: The Civil War encampment and battles at Felton’s Roaring Camp Railroads are a Memorial Day tradition in the Santa Cruz Mountains, with the 38th annual event taking place Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Roaring Camp’s steam trains make several trips a day through the redwoods, passing through Civil War skirmishes on Bear Mountain.
Cultural: In San Francisco, Carnaval will be celebrated Saturday (Los Tigres del Norte) and Sunday (parade) in the city’s Mission district. In the East Bay, Union City will hold a Myanmar New Year Water Festival on Sunday at Kennedy Park.
